Congratulations Karla and Justin!

Berlyn Kathleen

Born: 3/28/07
8 pounds 7 ounces
21 1/2 inches

I like that Karla has her children a few months before I have mine. That gives me someone to talk to! It also gave Chase some practice holding a baby last night. He fell in love with Berlyn right away and he didn't want to give her up.

She's a beautiful little girl. Good job Karla and Justin!

Weekend photos

I couldn't resist taking a photo of the sun on Chase's cheek during a weekend nap. There is just something so sweet about a little boy sleeping - almost angelic. Or, maybe it is because when he's awake, I'm following after him with a wet wash cloth! Finger paints were a great idea until the weather went down about 30 degrees and I had to move my little Monet inside.

In other news, we had a 2nd ultrasound yesterday to check out the gender of the baby. It's still a little girl. She was flexing her right arm and sticking her tongue out at us. I wonder who she gets that from?

Zeroing in on 100

"Click this out!"
Can't wait for the celebration!!! The interviewer made one mistake...he says that my grandpa will have a drivers license until the age of 204!

Yes! He is mine!

Lately I've been living with a kid that wants to wear his Beatles t-shirt - a lot. And, he gets a little irritated when the local radio stations are not playing Beatles music. With his love of Beatles music there is no doubt that he's Gary's son. I just haven't been sure he's mine.
BUT yesterday he did something that made him truly mine...he didn't want to leave our state museum. Okay, not a big deal to some, but to his mother the history/social science major - it was huge! Granted, my spiel on the Great Depression went straight over his head, but he still seemed to enjoy himself.
Growing up, my family came to the capitol city every year for the annual teacher's convention. It was where we did our back to school shopping and where we got to play in a pool for a few days. What I lived for, though, was going to the museum. It's nice to know Chase enjoys it, too.
And, it's nice to know that he's mine.

Scary movies

My mom will leave a room when a movie gets a little too suspenseful for her tastes. Chase reminded me of her this weekend while he was watching the first Harry Potter movie. He's not a huge fan of Lord Voldermort so he used our hands, arms, whatever was available to cover his eyes.

You made me love you - I didn't wanna do it...

We are now the owners of a 2000 Mercury Villager. We've been fighting the urge to buy a minivan, but the power of the 3rd row seat finally won us over. It was hard for us to trade in our 95 Ford Explorer. It was a good vehicle and it was the one that Gary and I fought over to take to work. We are both happy with our decision, although, it was a strange feeling to pull into the mall parking lot while jamming to Def Leppard's classic song Photograph in a minivan!

Other than spending Chase's college fund, we've been enjoying some nice weather - finally. Here are some other things we've been up to:

Chase has mastered the art of taking pictures with my cell phone. He took the one of Gary and me and even the one of himself "sleeping" (pretty good, huh?). Today he took a picture of me in the bathroom. I've decided not to include that photo in the blog.

He has cast some spells on me as a little Harry Potter.

He's been practicing some guitar with his dad.

AND the main reason I haven't been blogging is because of the 3 year old that has taken over my computer with his obsession with SesameStreet.com!

Todd!

Here's what happened when I sent the ultrasound photo to my brother. He sent the photos back with the following comments:

"I dunno... kind of looks like a boy to me..."

"Well, maybe you're right. It could be a girl..."

Someone has too much time on their hands at work.
